  • First Full Length Twilight Trailer

    23

Perhaps I’m not the best person to be commenting on the new trailer for the upcoming teen vampire romance tale titled Twilight which is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke. I’m a big fan of the books and this movie could be the worst ever made and I’d still have a good time watching it.

Andrew’s already posted about the movie and I’ve posted a teaser and rather than gush over it like a school girl (I’ll save that for my personal blog), I’ll let you tear it to pieces.

And just so you know, I’ll be there for the midnight screening.

NOTE: Updated with new crisp trailer!

  • Bathory, the Other Blood Countess Film

    Bathory Movie Still

It’s interesting how the film industry works in groupings. Last year, around the time Julie Delpy’s The Countess was announced, I discovered that veteran Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko was working on his own version the life of the famed Elizabeth Báthory, the 16th-century Hungarian countess said to have killed virgins and bathed in their blood in an effort to keep herself young. Simply titled Bathory his version of the film stars Anna Friel (who some may recognize from “Pushing Daisies”) and Vincent Regan of 300 fame.

When I first heard about it, Jakubisko’s film was almost complete but I’d nearly forgotten all about it until I spotted a review earlier today. That sparked a search for an update and I’ve found a few choice tidbits. The film is indeed complete and it even opened in the Czech Republic last week with a few more Eastern European openings scheduled for later in the year. Surprising and mildly confusing is that the film appears to be in English though some of the footage I’ve tracked down is clearly not English; I’ll go with it considering the lead actress is, indeed, English.

Currently, there’s no international distributor for the film and likely chances are we’ll never have the opportunity to see it on the big screen but it looks worthwhile and good enough to keep in mind for an eventual DVD release (likely an import).

There are a number of great photos at F&ME while the trailer and the festival promo trailer are tucked under the seat!

We all love the Pixar studio around here, so none of us could decide who should get to write the review for their newest, Wall·E. So we decided we’d all pitch in (or a few of us anyway). Check out our quick thoughts below along with an overall score and then feel free to share your thoughts as well.

Synopsis: 700 years in the future, Earth is completely devoid of any hint of human life. All that remains is a young trash cleaning robot named Wall·E.
