Vin DieselA few months back I posted some news about Vin Diesel’s passion project, a period war epic titled Hannibal the Conqueror which was to tell the story of Hannibal, the man considered one of the greatest Carthaginian commanders. Diesel was to star and direct the film, a project he has been working on for years.

At the time of that first story, the film was still in the midst of pre-production with little details on casting or production and thanks to some recent news, it appears that it will be a few more years before the project moves ahead as Diesel originally intended. It was announced last week that Diesel would be producing, directing and lending his voice to a children’s animated series about the conqueror. The project is being produced for BET and will act as a prequel to the live-action film focusing on Hannibal as a boy.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury but I didn’t realize Diesel was particularly interested in animation. It’ll be interesting to see how this turns out and what sort of animation style the project takes. Could make for an interesting watch.
