Our beloved Uptown Theater will be closing in just a couple of week of 6+ months of much needed renovations. The latest marquee madness proves in a brief statement one of the many reasons why I have zero interest in seeing their last theatrically run films. See you next fall Uptown – with a new coat of paint and shitload of screen doors.
Our good friends at the historic Uptown theater in Minneapolis always have a good time with their signage. This one probably generated a lot of verbal question marks, but if you’re a child of the 80’s and/or just love your pop cinema, this is a brilliant one.
Yes we have a 120 degree heat index going on darn near all week here across the United States. And sadly, that does include Minneapolis. The heat here has slowed down pretty much everything all week. Even the guys at the theater ultimately just said ‘to hell with it…’
psst…they’re showing Tabloid.

Thanks to cinecast regular Matt Gamble for snapping this photo of Minneapolis’ Uptown theatre when they showed In The Loop.
A little tasteless but oh so funny. A This marquee was apparently up for a very short while at the Guild 45 in Seattle. And because the art of the marquee has been dying off for some time now, whenever something else comes along, we will be sure to share under the ‘Marquee Malarkey’ heading. Enjoy.
