  • Been Sitting at my Desk too Long

    11

Okay, perhaps I’m just going a bit loopy because I’ve been sitting at my desk reinstalling everything on my computer but for some reason I just love the following ad that I’ve now seen about 20 times in front of various movies.

Oh and btw, I heard that it took a few takes to get the gorilla to play the drums well enough. Here is their third take. Personally I think they should have gone with it.

I think its time for bed.

  • Star Wars Character Flash Drives

    10

This is so totally geeky and mainstream, I’m not sure it really belongs here but I know there’s loads of love for Star Wars out there so I couldn’t help but share.

Neil over at Film School Rejects has tracked down ‘designer’ flash drives that, you guessed it, look like your favourite SW characters.

These suckers are not cheap, they’ll each set you back $50US but they’re fun to look at and for the die hard collector a must have (and if this is you, you can get them here).

My favourite is below and the rest are after the jump!

  • Movie Memorabilia for the Stupid

    4

So this isn’t technically movie news and pretty much goes against everything this site stands for, but in light of our recent posts of the new Indiana Jones IV images and the fact that I’m delirious from a long night of podcasting, I just couldn’t resist posting this. At the very least, it should be good for a laugh (or a groan). Especially since it involves one of the most iconic and coolest characters in film history.

Thanks to a close friend, I’m now aware of the fact that there are dumber people out there than I had hoped for humanity. If you don’t know what it is that you’ve got, don’t sell it on ebay.

  • Thanksgiving

    9

Since RowThree wasn’t quite ready by last Thursday, I didn’t get the opportunity to post my favorite trailer of the year… hell, maybe of the decade: Thanksgiving. One of the faux trailers from my favorite movie of the year, Grindhouse. While most of the action in the trailer has worn its lustre for me (since I’ve seen this about 100 times), Michael Biehn’s short cameo in the trailer will never get old. I laugh out loud every. single. time. I couldn’t bring myself to wait til next year, so you get the trailer in all its glory today. Happy Thanksgiving!! (a few days late)…

WARNING: Graphic violence and nudity. Hooray!

  • “Be Kind Rewind” Trailers of Ghostbusters, Robocop and More!

    12

Wonder Twin powers, ACTIVATE!The official site for Michel Gondry’s Be Kind, Rewind has been “sweded” onto the internet. Within the site, besides the usual trailer and downloads and all that fun stuff, are trailers for the films that are reshot within the movie. For those unfamiliar with this film, the synopsis goes as follows:

    from IMDb:

“Jerry (Jack Black) is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing his headaches. But he inadvertently causes his brain to become magnetized, leading to the unintentional destruction of all the movies in his friend’s (Mos Def) store. In order to keep the store’s one loyal customer, an elderly lady with a tenuous grasp on reality, the pair re-create a long line of films including The Lion King, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters, When We Were Kings, Back to the Future, Driving Miss Daisy, and Robocop , putting themselves and their townspeople into it. They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood.”

Michel Gondry in my mind is a true genius. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Science of Sleep are gorgeously shot in their own, homemade way and Gondry’s earlier work with music videos are some of the coolest pieces of 5 minute video I’ve ever seen. So when something like Be Kind, Rewind comes along, I think we’re in for a real treat.

Over at the official site, not only do they have their remade trailers for Robocop, Driving Miss Daisy, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters and Boyz in Da Hood, they also have included a feature that allows you to swede yourself into a relatively large catalog of films. Like this…

    Andrew “Sweded”

Ok, that’s actually pretty lame. I could do MUCH better with photoshop, but still, it’s a fun little toy for your blog or web site or whatever. What’s really fun are the trailers for their reshot films. I personally like the Robocop trailer. I would definitely watch the full length version of that!

  • New Get Smart One-Sheet

    0

Lovin’ the new poster for Get Smart – the redux of the popular 60′s television show. You know it’s Steve Carrell in the movie, so we don’t need to see his face in favor of the much more fetching Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). I love how the poster concedes comedy and gives us a great idea of what the movie will be like (Maxwell Smart figuratively being shat upon throughout the entire picture) instead of focussing on popularity and star power. From everything I’ve seen about this movie so far, all signs point to great fun.
