Who doesn’t love free movies? I know I do and I’m sure you do too.

Here’s the scoop. The nice folks at the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival have hooked us up with a couple of double passes to some nifty events during the festival. Here’s what’s up for grabs:

– 2 tickets for the opening gala – Sept 2nd (Granville 7 – 7 pm) (one winner)

– 4 tickets for the Brazilian gala – Sept 7th (Granville 7 – 7 pm) (two winners)

– 2 tickets for the closing gala – Sept 12th (Granville 7 – 7 pm) (one winner)

Want to enter? It’s really easy. Simply answer this question:

Which film on VLAFF’s lineup played another Vancouver festival earlier this year?

Need a hint, look no further than right here.

Email us your answer along with your full name and which tickets you’re interested in. Winners will be randomly selected from all correct entries and contacted via email.

Not very fine fine print: One entry per person per giveaway. Contest closes Tuesday, August 31st.

VLAFF announces line-up. Prepares to take over Vancouver

Vancouver has entered festival season. With the VQFF, the city’s second largest film festival, in it’s final days, September is going to bring with it yet another great collection of films under the banner of the Vancouver Latin Film Festival.

In it’s 8th year, this year’s festival runs September 2nd to the 12th and is a perfect place to start the city’s festival season at a nice, quiet pace. With 26 feature films, documentaries and a number of shorts, it’s a great way to ease into festival mode rather than jumping head first into VIFF.

This year’s line-up of VLAFF titles is diverse and features a good number of award winning films including Natalia Almada’s The General, Sebastián Cordero’s thriller Rabia, Ernesto Daranas’ Fallen Gods and Javier Fuentes-Leon’s Undertow which holds the honour of playing both VLAFF and VQFF (guess I should make an effort to see it – it’s played here twice and I’ve missed it twice).

Full listing of films can be found at VLAFF’s official website along with links to trailers, screening schedule and other pertinent festival information. Also follow them on twitter for up to the minute updates!
