Cinecast Episode 494 – Broken Soundtrack

Art should push buttons. Bigelow does just that with her latest, criminally underseen, “masterpiece” (copyright Kurt Halfyard of RowThree.com), Detroit starring John Boyega, Will Poulter and Anthony Mackie et. al. It’s an intense couple of hours that is frustrating in the best possible way – kind of like this show. On The Watch List this week we talk about Jimmy Iovine’s involvement with DeathRow Records in “The Defiant Ones” as well as the crime thriller, drama, “Ozark”, which is “the best thing Jason Bateman has ever done” (copyright Andrew James of RowThree.com). For a tight show, we pack in a lot of conversation – including an apology to site visitors and listeners.

As always, please join the conversation by leaving your own thoughts in the comment section below and again, thanks for listening!

On the CITY OF LAKES subject, there are a lot of cities that use that tagline.

Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States
Lake Mary, Florida, United States
Nainital, Uttarakhand, India
Bathinda(thermal lakes), Punjab, India
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India
Hanoi, Vietnam
Thane, Maharashtra, India
Udaipur, Rajasthan, India

Also Minnesota is known as the land of 10,000 lakes – it’s on our license plates even. Actually we have closer to 12,000.

But look at a Google Map of Minneapolis. We have lots of lakes for a metropolitan area.

No GoT this week either? Wtf!

After travelling for nearly 4 weeks, I just got back and had 4 hours of TV to watch. I binged it recently, and Binging doesn’t really allow for the kind of detailed conversations we typically have under normal circumstances on the show. We’ll see what happens for the remaining 2 episodes this season in terms of Cinecast segment.

Yeah sorry – very limited GoT next episode too. I think we’ll probably talk a bit about it after the season finale.

Kurt, you were in Dartmouth and didn’t come to my restaurant…and to think I used you guys as a majour reference when we did our “Movies of 1984” menu a couple years ago! Kidding, glad you had a great time!

Dang! What is your restaurant? We were in Battery Park and T.I.B.S. in terms of eating out, but we were treated to some fine Lobsters and steamed mussels at a friends parents house.

If your place is PICNIC AT DART I’m sorry to have missed it, the photos of the food and place look amazing.

Ha! Yeah, that’s me. If you had dropped by I know I would have recognized your voice…would have bought you a round just for the “Romancing the Stone” love! Not to mention The Prisoner…

There is a good chance I will be in Dartmouth again in the near future, I will definitely look you guys up! Cheers, K.
