Bryan and Jon go shiny and chrome as they take on MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. They’re joined by the “almost always” Ryan as well as fact-chucker Chris, who drops some serious factoids on the gang. Elliot takes some time away from his super rad podcasts BEYOND SCHOOL and SUPER HERO SAMPLER to join the fun, and Emily represents for the badass CHICKS WHO SCRIPT podcast.

Don’t be MEDIOCRE, listen to the episode now!

Not sure how it came about, but I’m totally with the guy who would rather watch Linklater’s Sunset trilogy. It’s weird to compare the two films, but yeah, I think there’s much MUCH more depth in Jesse and Celine than nearly any other onscreen couple.

I also agree with him that Mad Max gets a bit repetitive. They do all this cool stuff. Then do all that same cool stuff again. It starts get old in the second half.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Mad Max quite a bit, but I would never put this in the upper eschelons of best films of the year.

I also agree with him on his quote choice. Also one of my favorite moments of the movie. It’s part of passing on the legend and life through story (much like the original films suggested).

It’s certainly a weird comparison and one I hadn’t heard before until then. I STILL haven’t seen the Sunset trilogy so that’s certainly a plan I have..

Is this guy my long last brother? Doomsday is one of my favorite films of the decade. Watch it every year and LOVE it every time. #adore

Kudos to Emily for picking Book of Eli. I feel like that movie was very much unfairly shat upon at the time of its release.

I keep watching BOOK OF ELI, it’s a lovely bit of post-apoc story telling, with lots of wonderful flourishes and moments.

This is ALSO a blind spot for me, and mainly because it was shat on at the time. Will have to go back and check it out.

I have seen neither Doomsday, nor Book of Eli. Just added them to my Christmas Watch list. Thanks for the recommendations!

Doomsday. So good. Don’t come back complaining that it’s a remake of Mad Max meets Escape from New York meets 28 Days Later meets Game of Thrones meets Fast and Furious meets Resident Evil though. Cuz that’s exactly why it’s great.

This movie should gain more traction than it does. Female lead and so much better than Fury Road. Yes I said it.

Hahahha, I can’t say I didn’t have it coming…
