Bryan and Jon are joined by Tony, Graham and Ryan once more for the final installment of the Battle of the Bonds Franchise. Of note, Tony tries to defend The World is Not Enough and that in and of itself is worth the price of admission! Also, shotguns.
MAY THE BEST BOND FILM WIN!
In the spirit of our battle episodes, we put forth our arguments for best Bond film. Here’s the rundown:
CASINO ROYALE – BRYAN’S CHOICE!
Best Craig. Martin Campbell came back. Knows how to start a bond film. Black and white sequence. Masters it’s pacing. Set the tone. Eva green makes bond fall in love.
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME – JON’S CHOICE!
Jaws as the iconic threat. Wry humor. Mugging it as Bond. moore’s best bond. Unapologetic womanizer – sign of the times. Understated and exciting underwater car chase.
THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH – TONY’S CHOICE!
Q’s last movie. Has all the elements. Decent villains. Bait and switch. Female villain. Fantastical Bond villain elements. Highest grossing bond film.
THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS – GRAHAM’S CHOICE!
Timothy Dalton’s first. A new era of bond. Not super womanizing. Charismatic. Death from back of jeep as it careens off a cliff. Ghetto Blaster.
GOLDFINGER – RYAN’S CHOICE!
Broke box office records. Basis for spy mocking movies. Academy award for sound effects editing. Only James Bond movie with a band named after it. First mention of the drink. Iconic scene with gold paint. Pussy Galore. Odd job. First Q debriefing.
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN DOING?
The part of the show where we catch up with what everyone is doing. Yes, we named this section such on purpose. It’s funny. Haha.
