Cinecast Episode 375 – Older But Still Spry

This it. The final Cinecast for 2014. With Kurt leaving the territory and Andrew finishing this semesters schooling, the end of December is, like much of the back half of the year, a busy one. We agree to go out on a high note with Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman and Mike Leigh’s Mr. Turner. With The 1984 Project also coming to its conclusion and no Matt Gamble present, it seems fitting to end the project with some Brian De Palma directing a Hitchcockian meta-porno, Body Double. We also ask for any criticism or comments on the project as a whole if you’ve got them as it may dictate whether or not we take on a similar venture later on down the road. The Watch List offers mucho Harry Potter, a bit more Nebraska high-plains and a look back at the early 90s, action-era, highlighting Steven Seagal. All in all this was an enjoyable year for us to fill your ear. Thanks to all of our listeners, friends and family who have supported us this long and we’ll see you all again in 2015. Cheers!

As always, please join the conversation by leaving your own thoughts in the comment section below and again, thanks for listening!

I checked and THE HOMESMAN is playing in Toronto at the Regent Cinema. So, it’s VERY limited.

I think THE HOMESMAN might have had a wider release three weeks ago, which is when Cineplex.com says it opened.

It’s already in second run theatres, so it probably didn’t do well.

Kurt leaving the territory??? WTF?!

Don’t say Kurts leaving the show. I couldn’t handle that!

Also hope you still manage to do a review of the year show in January.
Cheers for all the hours er… days… probably months of movie talk. Best. Show. Ever.

Thanks for the kind words Rolf. Kurt’s not going anywhere permanently. Just a three-week vacation south of the equator. He’ll be back… as far as I know.

🙂

And technically, I’ll be North of the equator, if only a few latitude lines…

Thanks for clearing that up, fellas! 🙂

I loved the 1984 project, anytime you guys talk about older movies, I’m in!

84 was pretty great and if you wanted something to take a break from it before another year or something there is always homework.

Andrew, I think the Van Damne movie you are talking about is Nowhere To Run. You should see Hard Target for sure though.
