I’m a HUGE Kevin Smith fan and I considered tonight’s repeat screening of TUSK when planning my TIFF line-up. However, since the film is opening next week (September 19), I decided that I would just wait for the film.

While in line yesterday, I overheard someone, who saw a repeat screening of BIG GAME, commenting about how he didn’t feel it fit within Midnight Madness. I chimed in by saying how well it was responded to by the midnight crowd, but he didn’t seem convinced.

I think this just shows that many people expect Midnight Madness these days to be “horror or bust” and the days of films like DAZED AND CONFUSED screening as part of the programme are long over.

In fact many of the non-horror Midnight Madness films from as soon as a decade ago, such as THE MACHINIST, EDEN LOG, and JCVD, would probably get placed into Vanguard today.

Meant to say “within the last decade”
