Mamo #362: Kung Fu Dragon Too

Mamo!

How To Train Your Dragon 2 did NOT set the box office on fire as we all expected, reminding us of another big ticket sequel from a few years back which also underperformed. Does Dreamworks have a sequel problem?

I’m wondering if Dragon having a TV series made an impact. On one hand you’d see it as additional advertising, however it maybe dilutes the product and makes the release of the film less important/seen by some as just another episode. Especially if the show is not that great, then maybe parents don’t feel excited to take the kids to see it.

I think the 4 year gap in between films is the problem. Nowadays you put your sequels out every two years, three at the most.
