See Revenge Thriller Evangeline Early! [Vancouver]

You should really take a moment to remember this name: Karen Lam. You may not recognize it yet but it’s only a matter of time before the Vancouver director makes a splash on the international stage. She’s been nominated for a whopping 18 Leo Awards including 9 for her new feature film Evangeline.

A revenge thriller, Evangeline screened at a number of film festivals last year and will appear at a few more in Asia and Australia in 2014 before heading into Canadian theatres later this fall but if you’re in Vancouver, you can see the movie early and get in on a very special Q&A.

Evangeline is part of a special screening series between the Canadian Cinema Editors, Cineworks and The Pacific Cinematheque. The one night only screening is happening May 17 at The Cinematheque and will be followed by a Q&A with editor Jeanne Slater and writer/director Karen Lam so not only will you get the chance to see the movie before everyone else but you’ll also have the chance to ask Ms. Lam any burning questions you might have.

Tickets for the event are already available and expected to go quickly so get yours soon!

I wasn’t really too much a fan of EVANGELINE. It’s somewhat well made, but the plot had serious issues.

Here’s my review from when I saw it last fall for the Blood in the Snow Film Festival:
