Here Comes The Devil to Open at The Royal Cinema This Valentine’s Day

If you haven’t heard of Adrián García Bogliano yet, you certainly will soon. The subject of the January feature at Rue Morgue Magazine, and a critically triumphant run in the Toronto International Film Festival’s Vanguard programme in 2012, Here Comes The Devil is, to date, his most sophisticated piece. Finally, it is getting a theatrical release, however limited.

As any parent can attest, the safety of their children is their number one priority. But what happens when that safety is threatened – not by a tangible thing, but a force far beyond a mother or father’s control? Writer/director Adrián García Bogliano has taken this concept to new heights with Here Comes the Devil, a darkly perverse tale of the family dynamic gone grossly awry, playing in theatres in Canada February 2014, from Video Services Corp. (VSC)

After the critical success of his previous two features, Cold Sweat and Penumbra, Bogliano turned his talents toward a subject matter very close to him. “I think I was interested in working with a family because there’s nothing more terrifying than something bad happening to the people you love – particularly if they’re kids.”

The film follows a family whose preteen son and daughter inexplicably reappear after being lost overnight on a desolate, cave-riddled mountainside. Becoming withdrawn and beginning to exhibit strange behavior, their parents quickly assume something sinister happened to them while missing and alone.

But after hearing an ominous local legend… the concerned mother and father begin to realize that their children may have fallen prey to something inhuman – and that this dark, unstoppable evil has now returned home with them.

Here Comes The Devil

The disturbing and psychologically haunting Here Comes The Devil will be playing at Toronto’s Royal Cinema from February 14th through until the 19th. Don’t miss out on this excellent film while it’s here.
