Cinecast Episode 332 – Accept the Mystery

Tried so hard to keep it under an hour. Really, really tried. And we came damn close. Alas, The Coens, studio Ghibli and too many great male performances this year kept us from our goal. But that’s okay! It was a lot of fun getting everyone’s list and shooting the bull. A fun exercise is in store for you for the listener segment for next week. We also look forward to new Coens, Scorsese, Jonze and Russell in the next couple of weeks.

As always, please join the conversation by leaving your own thoughts in the comment section below and again, thanks for listening!

Totally forgot to give some love to GIOVANNI RIBISI as a supporting (semi-cameo) in Seth McFalane’s Ted.

Of course I was being an ass, but actually I do like Shane Carruth’s performance.  That it is not showy and very guarded plays into the character, he wasn’t trying some thespian role.

For me Michael Cera is the best thing about this year… watched him in Magic, Magic and Crystal Fairy and hell even This is the End and a guy I never thought twice about before now has my total attention.  He is fucking awesome, looks more like Beck now and has this dark side to him showing through that is far more fascinating than the awkward teen he had been doing for years.

Mike_Rot Did you miss YOUTH IN REVOLT?  He’s pretty good doing the doppleganger thing in that one.

KurtHalfyard watched it for first time this year, it is ok, I have problems with the script mostly, I don’t think it is as funny as it thinks it is, but there he is still banking on the quirky character… I prefer him as an outright dick.  He is so damn creepy in Magic, Magic.

Mike_Rot KurtHalfyard  One might even argue that the film is about HIM more than HER, and his homosexual anxieties around his host.  All of Cera’s contributions to Temple’s discomforts are due to him trying to cover for his homosexuality.  Yea, there be lots going on in MAGIC MAGIC.
