Mamo #296: Sweet As

One month later to the day, Matt Brown returns from Middle Earth and Matt Price regales him with everything that’s happened in Hollywoodland since he’s been away. New Zealand travel tips abound! Plus, yet another random stranger asks our opinion about Episode VII! It’s like nothing’s changed at all.

  1. I traveled to Iceland before Matthew Brown, but this time he travels to New Zealand before me. :-)

Actually later this year my travel plans are to go to France, because my wife’s work is sending her someplace that takes her through Paris and we figured with one flight paid for, that we might as well take advantage of it. However, I do hope to travel to New Zealand soon, hopefully before the final Hobbit movie comes out so that I also have a chance to see the Hobbit at the Embassy Theater.

One question I do have about the Embassy Theater is did they still have that giant Gandalf or had they taken that down already?

Beyond that I don’t have many other questions, as you already have plenty details and advice in your blog.

  2. The New Zealand blog, incidentally, is here: http://tederick.tumblr.com/tagged/New-Zealand-blog

The giant Gollum that Weta built for the Hobbit premiere has been moved to permanent residence at the airport. Gandalf was nowhere in evidence at the Embassy either. Regardless, the theatre itself is nearly worth the trip to Wellington alone – depending on where you’re coming from, of course.
