• RoboCop Reboot Poster

A little less than a year from now, another of Paul Verhoeven’s classics from the late 80s is scheduled for reboot. That’s right, RoboCop (redux) is on its way to a theater near you. No Peter Weller this time. Instead, we’ve got Joel Kinnaman (who?) in the titular role as well as Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley and Jay Baruchel in co-starring roles.

Anyway, this simply couldn’t wait til Friday. Though it made some headlines at Comicon a short while back, there were only fan photos of the lobby poster. Until now…

So happy to see Michael Keaton doing something – even if it is… this.

I imagine they released the poster to try to divert attention from these sets photos of this horribly boring Robocop outfit:

It’s hard to update Robocop’s icon look, but what they have come up with is very generic and boring. It looks like a guy in armor, generic bad guy #37 that Robocop kills among dozens of others. Unless the plan is to add some CGI to the outfit (itself not the best idea).

Yeah. Looks kinda like The Dark Knight – does it not?

A little bit and some have mentioned it looks like a black Iron Man. Either way, the fact that it looks like a suit someone is wearing and does not look very robotic. I mean it obviously is a suit that an actor is wearing, but the cool thing about the original is that it looked like it was very robotic, which this is completely missing this time around.

To be fair though, this is only showing us set shots. We have no idea what the final product will look like after the CGI stuff has been added to it. It might look a lot different. This could just be the equivalent of Andy Serkis wearing pins all over himself in King Kong.
