• The trailer for Spielberg’s Lincoln arrives.

For many people, a Spielberg movie is not simply a movie, but an event. For many people, a Daniel-Day Lewis movie is not simply a movie, but an event. For many people, just the thought of combining those two events into a mega-event is enough to make them squeal with anticipation and joy.

And there is no doubt about it, this sure does look like a Spielberg movie. For some, that’ll make them run away screaming “melodrama” and “John Williams” and “please stop it, Steven.” For others, like me, we are susceptible to the hysteria. We get caught up in all the hooplah. There are those of us who love and embrace Spielberg for his flaws, for his sentimentality, for his sweeping scores. And hell – love him, hate him, indifferent, you’ll be there too on November 16 (or shortly after) to see this.

What do you think of DDL’s interpretation so far? His voice? The general tone? Leave your comments below!

It’s no ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’… but it’ll be alright.

Seriously. Holy hell, that movie is going to be fantastic. It’s going to be one of those clean sweep movies at the Academy Awards.

My God, that trailer is almost a spoof. To be fair it’s exactly what I was expecting, but seeing it on screen confirms that this will be the sort of squirm-inducing patriotic schmaltz-fest that I have no interest in watching, but will end up going anyway just because it looks pretty and I can’t deny my Spielberg love. Lets hope it’s more watchable than War Horse at least. I did not like that movie.

Kind of wishing he had gone with some more unknown actors. Probably just me, but so many of those are brand names now, and it takes away a little something for me. “Oh, there’s Tommy Lee Jones! Oh that’s Sally Field!” I’ve read the book that the script was taken from apparently (Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin) and it’s a great read as history texts go, so I have high hopes for this one. Been looking forward to it for awhile. The more I watch the trailer, the more I love it.

Had no idea the cast was that huge and exceptional!

And maybe it’s cliche to say at this point but DDL is simply stunningly amazing. He’s probably the single greatest actor of this generation – no John Campea it’s not Russel Crowe.

Every movie this guy in is a completely different person. He’s the one actor you can look at in almost anything he’s in and he seems to have totally “chameleoned” into a completely unique character. It is actually a little weird.
