Thriller

Got a new (or old) favorite title that would you’d probably find shelved in this section of the book store? Then this is where you talk about it.

If you feel the need to have an in-depth discussion about the book with someone, that’s fine. But remember not all of us have turned every page yet or we might want to pick it up later. So try to just be courteous and mark your statement as a SPOILER so we don’t accidentally glimpse plot points in our recent comment section. Thanks!

  1. I just finished reading Neal Stephenson’s latest REAMDE (which is apparently pronounced “ream-dee,” just like “read-me” would be pronounced if it were misspelled – yes, I had to look up how Stephenson pronounced it before I could actually read the book). I had the weird sensation of not being able to put it down, reading the whole thing in like a week (and it’s his longest book yet, which is saying something), and yet not being quite satisfied with it. It’s a decent fast-paced thriller, but the cyber/tech stuff that’s usually central to his books is almost peripheral here, which kind of irritated me whenever I stopped to think about it. Thankfully the book never gives you much time to stop and think about it, but it is certainly a far cry from Snow Crash.

Has anyone else read it yet?
