About two weeks ago I posted my thoughts on this type of film (MMLD) and my prediction for how 10 Years would be received – at least in this little corner of the internet. Despite the intriguing cast (particularly Channing Tatum and Rosario Dawson), this trailer doesn’t do much for hampering that lack of expectation. In short, this looks awful.
The cast also includes this quite lengthy list of names that will not get any depth or enough of a character-arc for us to care about within the 100 minute running time:
Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Chris Pratt, Justin Long, Oscar Issa, Kate Mar, Ron Livingsto, Lynn Collins, Ari Graynor, Anthony Mackie, Max Minghella, Aubrey Plaza, Scott Porter, Brian Geraghty, Aaron Yoo, Eiko Nijo and Nick Zano.
Probably better than some of those other, cookie-cutter, holiday quick creations, but still not looking like there’s much to grasp on to here other than soap opera-like drama and some light, safe comedy. To each his own I suppose, but the trailer embedded below just does nothing. For me.
