For a while now I have been flip-flopping between Sigur Ros and Arcade Fire being my favourite band. Right now it’s Sigur Ros because of their amazing new album Valtari but that will likely change once AF releases any new stuff.

I am hooked on the mash-up right now

Girl Talk, Kleptones, Hood Internet rule my listening right now.

If you’re into mash-up, I came across this nice little effort on Soundcloud – http://soundcloud.com/gwillakers/hail-to-the-36-chambers

They’ve put together a whole album like that, which fuses Wu-Tang Clan with Radiohead. Awesome. And there’s a link to download it for free on the page – of course I doubt he has the copyright for the music he’s using, so he couldn’t take money for it – he’s probably not allowed to distribute it either, but hey ho!

  4. Rick Vance says:

Yeah most of the people who succeed do it all by donations because they can’t charge for the stuff.

  5. David Brook says:

Is it legal to actually put it out there though?

  6. Rick Vance says:

I think it depends on how strongly the music people want to pursue it because I know 36 Chambers of the Lonely Hearts Club Band was requested to be taken down by someone (it can still be found).

I know the guy behind Girl Talk has a huge audience and constantly is in high demand to dj / do live events and when All Day was released his website crashed under the traffic.

It is murky, but how do you stop people giving stuff to friends.
