If there is a better high-concept action movie than The Raid in the past few years, or at least one with more action, guns, martial-arts, and bone-crunching foley-work, well, I don’t believe you. I caught this a at the lively midnight screening during TIFF last year, and it brought the house down; it also won the Midnight Madness Peoples Choice award. The charismatic lead here, Indonesian martial artist, Iko Uwais, is going to be a significant action-star. Look for the re-modelling of the wall-tiles (with goon’s skull) at the end of this trailer below as a hint of the timing and brutal wit of the film:
