We’re big fans of idiosyncratic filmmaker Wes Anderson around here with the likes of The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou loved by many of the Row Three team (although I personally don’t care for Zissou all that much). Any new film by him is quite an event and his latest Moonrise Kingdom is no exception, the trailer for which has just hit the web over at Apple.
IMDB describes the plot as:
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s, as a young boy and girl fall in love they are moved to run away together. Various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down — which might not be such a bad thing.
The cast is to die for with the likes of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Harvey Keitel and Tilda Swinton inhabiting this particular example of the director’s unique world. The trailer is vintage Wes Anderson but as far as I’m concerned that’s a great thing. Watch it below.
Moonrise Kingdom is scheduled for a limited U.S. release on May 25th.

I think it’s finally time to change The Auteur Theory to The Wes Anderson Theory. That being said, I’m always down for some new Wes Anderson.
It might be the most Wes Anderson-ish of all his movies (at least looking at the trailer).
Might just be me, but it looks like Moonrise Kingdom is shot on video (bit of a downgrade from his previous work). Still looks really good though.
Looks like someone doing a parody of a Wes Anderson film it’s so Wes Andersony. Love that he’s got some different people in the cast. REALLY looking forward to the Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton factor. What can I say, it looks great (if a bit over-auteur). Still #3 on my most anticipated list.
I’ve never been much of a Wes Anderson fan but this looks fun.
That, my friends, is TRAILER HEAVEN. Can’t be more excited for this movie.
(Wes Anderson does what he does, and I’m totally fine with that.)
This just skyrocketed to my most anticipated film.
It looks like a remake of a Wes Anderson movie by Wes Anderson.
Just out of morbid curiosity I would like to see what would happen if Wes directed a big budget blockbuster.
It’s almost shocking how old Bill Murray looks now.
I’m having a bit of an internal battle between my love for the cast (Norton! Swinton!) and my dislike for Wes Anderson.
That looks brilliant. Yes it’s Anderson x10, but it looks all the better for it. Can’t wait.
