No, this is not the 6 minute prologue attached to IMAX prints of Mission Impossible, which, lets be honest, was the best possible advert for a film that needs no further advertising. We are all going to watch you when you come out, no worries, M’Kay. But studio policy likely dictates a formal trailer for the 35mm filmgoers. On the minus side: the first look at ‘dodgy CGI’ in the form of a football field collapsing. On the plus side: Everything else is weighty and impressive; in particular the voice of Sir Michael Caine. Even the use of the American National Anthem fits with the films epic size and scope. S’all good.
The trailer is tucked under the seat.

Booyah.
It was definitely a big weekend for Dark Knight Rises previews, since I saw this trailer theatrically yesterday before Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and I also saw the six minute preview before M:I 4 on Saturday.
I am a little concerned about the decision to include (what I guess is) a major set piece in the trailer (dodgy CGI aside). That’s definitely the major con of movie trailers. That said, I’m sure there will be plenty that’s not revealed until the film’s release in July.
This trailer did nothing for me. It didn’t give me the same exciting the Begins and Dark Knight trailers did when i first saw them. That being said, I still going to be there the first showing at midnight.
As I said above, Gord. That 6 minute Imax thing was a 100x better sell to a movie that really doesn’t need to be sold. Didn’t the last one make $1Billion with a B and earn a lot of critical love? Butts in seats, all around folks, it’s Warner’s $BILLION to lose, and that’s not going to happen.
I don’t know how you make a FOOTBALL FIELD collapse look real, no matter the budget. It’s such an alien thing to see.
Trailer is incredible IMO. I got chills when Bane spoke – I could understand him fine, hmmm – like I did when The Joker spoke in that first Dark Knight teaser. “When Gotham is ashes… you have my permission to die.” Amazing.
Heinz Field and Hines Ward, baby!
‘Ravenstahl’, the guy kicking off at the beginning of the trailer, is the name of the Pittsburgh mayor, Luke Ravenstahl. Just a little fun fact.
