Somewhere along the long line of delays and hold-backs, I had forgotten that this film was not directed by Joss Whedon, but rather by Lost writer/producer Drew Goddard. This trailer is a very solid reminder of that fact. I am not sure if I have seen high-tech/puzzlebox combined with spam-in-a-cabin horror in this fashion. (Editor’s Note: Actually there was My Little Eye…) It was only a matter of time, before that chocolate and peanut butter where thrown together, I guess. And Thor is driving Winnebago on this one.
The trailer is tucked under the seat.

Oh, man, I had no idea this had a Truman Show angle to it! Kinda sorta. I’m suddenly really excited about it again. I don’t think Drew Goddard has directed before, but he’s been a writer on most of Joss’s shows, so I’m very interested to see what they do together on this one.
This film has been a curiosity of mine since I first saw it on the IMDB coming soon list. After seeing this trailer, I am definitely excited for this film, which opens mere days after my 30th birthday (and what a present it will be).
Hey, it’s the funny guy from “Dollhouse.” – looks like the same sort of injected humor as the funny guy from National Treasure.
This looks intriguing, to say the least … though, it certainly seems like the type of film that will either deliver or fail, without much in between.
I admit that I was a bit surprised by the whole Truman Show-esque aspect to the trailer. Was starting to get fairly meh on the whole idea of this film (and the fluid nature of it’s release date) until I saw the trailer. Now I’m kind of back on board again. Seems that it might at least provide something fun.
So this is getting REALLY positive reviews on LetterBoxd. I am officially excited.
Yeah, the positive buzz that this movie is getting across the board is making me really excited to see the movie. I wish I had realized sooner last week that it was playing in Toronto last week with Drew Goddard doing a Q&A afterwards. I would have really liked to have seen that.
Also I’m trying to avoid as much as possible any plot points as my understanding is part of the fun of this movie is all the twists and turns it takes.
I’m excited for 2012 for many reasons, and it looking like a good year for horror is one of them. I liked The Innkeepers and The Woman in Black. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Cabin in the Woods. And Prometheus will probably be a horror movie at heart. Maybe there won’t be anything in the second half of the year to match, but that’s an impressive start.
Hopefully [Rec]3 is good as well.
