• Trailer: The Human Centipede Part 2 (Full Sequence) [UPDATED]

Update: A new trailer promoting the film’s U.S. release has been released. See below.

No matter what you thought of Tom Six’s ultra controversial and much-talked about The Human Centipede (First Sequence), you have to admire him for producing something pretty damn bold. Even if it wasn’t as outright graphic as its reputation suggested, the idea was about as out there, not to mention sick, as you can get. But I understand it’s not for everyone – I know people who flat-out refuse to watch it.

But hold the phone! Six wasn’t content with sickening audiences once as he’s back with the imaginatively titled (note sarcasm) The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence). The first teaser for it featured the director walking towards the camera with a voice-over explaining how this was going to be sickest movie ever made, how they searched the earth for the worst-of-the-worst in depraved killers and yadda yadda yadda. And the second trailer, which just recently hit the web (and is for the film’s Australian release), plays up the controversy of the film being banned in the UK (which is an absolute nonsense decision on the BBFC’s part as far as I’m concerned) and cut in the U.S.

The trailer is pretty damn awful, featuring a bunch of people in a van pretending to watch the movie and be horrified and disgusted by what they see. I get it, Six, it’s going to be sickening, no need to shove it down our throats like rusty barbed wire. I admired the boldness the first time around but I think Six has gone too far this time in trying to be as controversial as he can and clearly loving all the attention he’s getting, particularly when people are saying what he’s doing is downright depraved and immoral.

Have a look at the new trailer for yourself and see what you think:

That Australian trailer is absolutely wretched. After several trailers have used actual audience reactions (“[rec]” being one of the better ones), the fake reactions in the truck are godawful and makes me completely disinterested in the film. Granted, I had little interest in the first place – I didn’t hate the first film, but didn’t much enjoy it either (except for some of the doctor’s early scenes).
