It has been a long time coming. After an enormous amount of viral clips and teasers over the past two years, we finally have an actual trailer for The Muppets. With some self-aware jabs about the evolution of humor since the early years when Jim Henson was running the show, it looks like Jason Segel really might have pulled off what he was hoping to accomplish all along: make an old school Muppet movie.

Classic Muppets. Segel was the perfect guy to put together a new Muppet flick. I have a feeling there will be plenty of subtle Muppet references, like ‘Mah Na Mah Na’ playing on the radio.
I actually like this better than the first fake-out trailer. As in, the idea of the rom-com trailer was great, but the trailer itself didn’t convince me that the movie would be any good, but I’m more exctied about it after this one, for some reason. The silliness looks better contextualized or something, if that makes sense.
