I was lucky enough to see Bellflower at ActionFest in North Carolina this spring, which is not to say that Bellflower is an action film, nor a film which allows easy categorization. I will say, however, that six months into 2011, Bellflower is still far and away the best film I’ve seen all year.
Bellflower turns modern American life into a post-apocalyptic wasteland by way of the misadventures of two slacker misfits, who build weapons and vehicles from the Mad Max franchise in their spare time while falling in and out of love. Quintuple-threat Evan Glodell (writer/director/producer/editor/star – holy smokes!) designed and built custom cameras to capture the kaleidoscopic visions of Bellflower, and also brought to life the smoke-black monster car that has become the film’s signature icon: Mother Medusa.
Bellflower enters limited release in the States this summer.
The trailer is tucked under the seat.

Certainly one of the most stylish trailers of the year. Missing this at Actionfest due to schedule conflicts still smarts a little. Will be catching up with this on OSCILLISCOPES DVD most likely if it doesn’t make it to screens here….
Oh how I pray for Blu-ray on this one. The extraordinary things Glodell was able to get out of that custom camera… they require high definition viewing!
Arthouse Tony Scott?
Hellz yeahs.
Hey Toronto Locals! BELLFLOWER opened at AMC Yonge&Dundas today!
