• Screen Shot Quiz #228

The goal of the screen shot quiz is not to just guess what the movie is that the screen shot is from but to encourage discussion on the film. Feel free to shout out in the comments what the movie is and then provide an opinion or some thoughts on the movie. Oh and the first person who gets the movie right wins our respect.

  1. John Allison says:

Big bonus points to whomever gets this one. I couldn’t remember what the image is from that I picked so I looked at my cheat sheet and it is definitely not from the movie I marked down. I have no idea what this is from right now. :)

  2. Jonathan B. says:

John, it’s because like the jackass that I am, I hijacked your Screen Shot Quiz today. Only I hold the answer to this one. Mwhaha.

  3. John Allison says:

phew… I thought I was losing it. I’m going to guess a Spanish film but I have no idea what.

  4. Roy P says:

    Howard the Duck?

  5. Jonathan B. says:

    Close, Roy. ha.

Not Spanish. It’s very American. It was released in the 70s.

  6. John Allison says:

ahhh I got it now. That is Luke and Leia in a deleted scene on Tatoinne from Star Wars.

  7. Jonathan B. says:

    Hints:
    1) Released in late 1972.
    2) Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

  8. Polly Esther says:

    Heaven’s Gate?

  9. Roy P says:

I know the answer, but cheated by looking up jon’s hints…it’s a movie I want to see… a lot

  10. Kurt Halfyard says:

Pat Garret & Billy The Kid?

  11. Jonathan B. says:

Close, Kurt. Think much less brutal.

  12. Kurt says:

There is no snow in that shot, but McCabe and Mrs. Miller?

  13. Kurt says:

…could be Warren Beatty and Julie Christie…I don’t recall that shot thought, and I’ve seen the film a couple times…

  14. Jonathan B. says:

Heading in the wrong direction. Let me rephrase my hint: think much more light-hearted.

  15. David Brook says:

I’ve cheated now too and think I’ve got the right answer. It’s pretty obscure – to me at least; I only vaguely recognise the film’s name. It sounds like a film to check out though – decent cast and crew behind it.

  16. Jonathan B. says:

It’s not too obscure – one of the greatest and most prolific directors in American cinema was behind the camera!

  17. Jonathan B. says:

I was just re-watching it the other day though and saw this shot and thought it’d be perfect for the quiz.

Anybody want to take a stab, even those who used the clue?

  18. Jandy Stone says:

I have a guess based solely on researching those clues (thank you, Academy Award database!) – is it this? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068853/

If so, I haven’t seen it, have vaguely heard of it, and yeah, would definitely like to check it out.

  19. David Brook says:

That’s what I guessed. I must admit, it’s not a film I’m all that aware of despite the director and star.

  20. Christopher says:

easy..Its paul Newman and Victoria Principle in John Huston’s The Life and Times Of Judge Roy Bean…one of my fave 70 films ;o)
