Because I never get any of these I am calling it first: Enter the Void!

  2. John Allison says:

and you would be correct. For me EtV was an interesting experiment that I somewhat liked but it was too drawn out and actually felt a bit too hollow.

  3. Oskars says:

Void it is. The movie was boring, but that was due to detachment from the characters, because of the manner the movie was filmed.

  4. John Allison says:

My problem with it was that I really got tired of the zooming between places. It really needed to be cut down. I’d actually compare it to my viewing of Attenberg, which felt quirky for the sake of being quirky. EtV keep trying to do too much with visuals.

  5. Kurt says:

I’m apparently the only one that thinks Enter The Void should be LONGER! I find that 3 hours just flies by. I’ve seen the film more than once, and that holds.

  6. John Allison says:

I don’t know, its the type of film where I walk away thinking that I somewhat enjoyed it but still feel that it could be better. There was lot to like and respect but stuff that should have been cut. I am going to give it a re-watch though. I also think that my expectations were set pretty high by a fair amount of the reviews I had read.

  7. KeithTalent says:

Completely agree with Kurt; first time I saw it, it felt like a 40 minute film and that did not change on re-watch. It does indeed fly by.

  8. Even after all this time I’m still not sure where I stand on this one. As much as I enjoyed it, I feel like the film could have been trimmed down some without losing any of the punch. I can’t really pinpoint exact moments that felt too drawn out, but I do remember my attention wandering once or twice. But when the film was on, it was REALLY on. There were images in that film that still stick with me today. So I suppose I’m in the middle somewhere between the detractors and you, Kurt. :P
