• Screen Shot Quiz #207

The goal of the screen shot quiz it not to just guess what the movie is that the screen shot is from but to encourage discussion on the film. Feel free to shout out in the comments what the movie is and then provide an opinion or some thoughts on the movie.

Oh and the first person who gets the movie right wins our respect.

  1. I may be wrong.. but isn’t that MONSTERS? The Garth Edwards film from last year?

  2. Kurt Halfyard says:

    Certainly looks like it.

  3. step says:

    It is definitely Monsters.

  4. John Allison says:

Everyone is correct. It is Monsters and if you like interesting low key genre films you really need to get out and see it.

    • Andrew James says:

Ugh. I get why people dig the sort of refreshing look at a monster film, but this movie is so boring and soap-operatic. I just think it could’ve found more interesting ways to go about saying what it did.

  5. Kurt Halfyard says:

    Epic disagree.

    • Andrew James says:

I’m interested to see what Edwards does next, but watching a couple of yuppies bicker and argue, get drunk, sleep around, spout lame dialogue and look at each other longingly is not what I want for an interesting take on immigration and/or a monster movie.

It’s like the opening Jeep ride in Jurassic park where they don’t see any dinosaurs and are disappointed; except the characters are annoying and the acting is mediocre (at best).

  6. Henrik says:

    Isn’t he doing Godzilla?

  7. David Brook says:

I find that bizaare – did the producers of Godzilla actually watch Monsters? I’d understand if he was hired to do the effects but Monsters is drastically different from what I’d expect from a Hollywood disaster/invasion movie. I’ll be queuing up to see it, but I still find it odd.

  8. I have to say that even though I dug the movie Andrew J. isn’t completely wrong. It’s one of those movies that I enjoyed the experience that it provided me, but I doubt I’d ever watch it again for the reasons that Andrew J. doesn’t like it. A lot of the interactions between the two characters are very whiney at times and I wish they did more to let the world seep into the story.

  9. dan says:

The female character’s stylish haircut was distracting. Seriously.
