It is time to start the screen shot quizzes back up. The goal of the screen shot quiz is not just to guess what the movie is that the screen shot is from but also to encourage discussion on the film. Feel free to shout out in the comments what the movie is and then provide an opinion or some thoughts on the movie.
Oh and the first person who gets the movie right wins our respect.

The Bride with the White Hair?
right country and year but wrong movie.
I accidentally saw the answer so I’m keeping quiet, which is a shame because I love this movie and might have been able to get it. It’s a tough one from that image though.
hehe I never said this would be easy.
The shot is from the first couple of minutes in the movie.
Iron Monkey?
Yup, Bob got it. Now everyone should start talking about how great this movie is and how bad the Weinstein’s are at releasing Asian movies on DVD. I just read how they actually slowed down the fight scenes, removed the comedic bits and tried to hide the references to the real historical character as they thought North American’s couldn’t handle all those things.
Oh and I picked the shot cause it looks like a Monkey.
This movie kicks my fucking ass! Fight on the rooftop rules
I introduced my 8 year old son to this one one Sunday and within 5 minutes he said we could watch more movies like Iron Monkey any time.
Love me some Iron Monkey. Actually anything associated with Yuen Woo-Ping is good in my book.
“Actually anything associated with Yuen Woo-Ping is good in my book.”
Didn’t he choreograph Daredevil?
Can you recommend me any of his movies? I really wanna see more stuff that has the same highlevel martial arts and highlevel comedy that Iron Monkey does, but it’s impossible to gauge wether or not his other films are any good from descriptions, so I never pull the trigger on it.
Yep, and I watched Daredevil. I’ll watch what he does, even if the movie is written/acted badly, the only crime is when editors slice and dice his clean choreographed motion.
Recommendations:
Unleashed (aka Danny the Dog)
Fist of Legend
Wing Chun
Tai Chi Master
Once Upon a Time in China
Snake in Eagles Shadow
Drunken Master (the first one, although the Jackie Chan choreographed Drunken Master II is the better film)
and of course
Iron Monkey
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Youtube the scene with Jet Li and the lock-ties in Black Mask (an otherwise dreadful movie), it’s pretty swell. Also, there is a fight on construction girders between two women which is pretty amazing…
Magnificent Butcher is possibly my favourite Yuen Woo-Ping film or at least tied with Iron Monkey. Kurt’s picks are all worth tracking down too.
