• Criterion Discs Half Off for the Next…12 Hours

It’s not a very long-lived sale, but for the next 12 hours or so, all Criterion DVDs and Blu-rays that are currently in-stock are 50% at Criterion.com, using promo code “THANKS” (no quotes). They offer free shipping on orders over $50, which I have discovered is three Blu-rays worth. The sale is to celebrate getting 50,000 fans on their Facebook page. They are quite active and informative on Facebook, so it’s worth following them there. In any case, the promo code is only good for 50,000 seconds (roughly 13 hours) and they posted it about an hour ago.

So if there are any Criterion discs still catching your eye after the recent Barnes & Noble sales, here’s another chance, however short, to pick up a few more at 50% off. Just use promo code “THANKS” on the cart page at Criterion.com before checking out.

Nice nice NICE! Picked up Bottle Rocket, Robinson/Mars amd Hunger all on Blu. Great deal. It isn’t quite 50%, but at 20 bucks a pop, I’ll take it!

It’s 50% off MSRP, which is $39.99 most of the time, so yeah, it turns out to be $20 in most cases. Criterion.com usually sells the $39.99 discs for around $32, and it’s not 50% off THAT. Still about $10-$12 lower than you’ll usually find Criterion discs.

Between the MRSP trick and the $30 shipping to Canada, it actually worked out cheaper to just go to the shop and buy the disks there. A shame. I was all about NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, INSOMNIA and VIDEODROME.

Matt, yeah, the shipping would probably have made it not worth it for international customers.

Andrew, did the promo work on the pre-order? They initially said it was just in-stock stuff.
