Good Luck Ms. Foster. Good Luck Summit Entertainment. Those ‘best wishes’ would be selling a family redemption, Oscar-ish type story around Mel Gibson and a talking beaver. I think it is fair to say that the box-office and overall reception to this film is going to be more interesting than the film itself, this must aggravate director Jodie Foster a tad.

I’m sold, definitely checking this out.
Also, if The Ghost Writer can be a success there’s no reason The Beaver can’t be. Of course unless its bad film.
The Ghost Writer just cleaned house at European Movie Awards over the weekend with Best film, director, screenwriter, actor (McGregor) and score (Desplat). Still one of my top ten movies of the year… just not sure where yet.
Now off to watch this beaver trailer deal…
Well, you’re right Kurt; quite Oscar baity. Having said that it looks like a pretty great performance from Gibson. It also looks pretty nice. Considering Foster hasn’t directed anything in what, 15 years (since Little Man Tate?), it looks pretty top par.
Oops. Scracth that. The IMDB says Home for the Holidays was Foster’s last direction.
Watching this a second time is pretty brutal. The first half is intriguing and the second half is wank-off Oscar crap. I still say Gibson’s performance looks pretty damn fine.
The first minute of this trailer had me salivating. The rest, like mentioned above, rather trite. Still, the film looks crisp and just like when Edge of Darkness came out, I look forward to seeing Gibson here. I can’t help but have a soft spot for the guy as an actor.
As for Foster’s Home for the Holidays, I love it. It’s interesting to look back at Downey’s performances that he did while he was high out of his mind.
It was only a matter of time….
