With Jason Statham, you are pretty well assured you are going to get what you expect. He has been doing the same sort of mid-budget, slick, action vehicles since he jumped ship from Guy Ritchie to Corey Yuen (the Transporter films pretty much define what that for which Statham has been typecast). Here he teams up with Ben Foster and Donald Sutherland to take down the typical ‘bureaucratic gangster with dozens of henchmen.’
That this is a remake of a 1972 Michael Winner Charles Bronson film of the same name, it is kind of inspired in its obviousness, Statham is more or less the 21st century Charlie Bronson. There are many more to go if they get Statham on board with the Death Wish Franchise.
The Mechanic trailer is tucked under the seat.
