I worship at the alter of Coen. Sometimes there just aren’t words. Let’s just use this as a place where we can talk about how awesome Joel and Ethan Coen are.

Well. That was the best moment of my day. Wonderful. Loving Matt Damon rocking the mustache. Brolin looks fearless and Bridges has ‘grizzled’ down to a science at this point. It’s the music, as usual that sells the Coen’s trailer.
Unbelievable! Nothing wrapped in a box will be as great of a present as my ass in the local theater on December 25th.
Calling it now. Oscar nom for Damon.
You know how good that trailer is? It even makes me want to see the original with John Wayne.
Second that, Bob. This looks like the coward Robert Ford movie, only with a point and a pace. ZING!
just pooped my pants
Wow, they’d better not delay the UK release, I don’t think I’ll be able to bear waiting once you guys have seen it. And how gorgeous does it look?!?
meh.
Rot’s sanity continues in a fashion not unlike a downward spiral.
as almost always, I would prefer the real thing to the Coen Brothers homage of it.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever actually seen True Grit. I know I’ve seen bits and shots, but not the whole thing. Will have to (happily) remedy quickly.

Not very. The trailer seems alright I guess, I like the contemporary westerns (post-Dances with Wolves stuff), but it’s not really bringing anything new to the table. It’ll probably be another decent action movie.
My guess is the action will be pretty low key. It will probably come in short, intense bursts (like No Country, Appaloosa, Jesse James) if previous Coen films are anything to go by. Which to be honest is the least of what I care about when it comes to a Coen film.
Plus Bridges and Damon together look fab.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the original True Grit, so I’m probably not the best suited to say, but I can’t remember thinking much of it. It’s not the sort of film that feel sacrilegious to remake anyway.
Personally it was the cinematography that was impressing me the most in the trailer, it’s only a teaser so you’re never going to get much of an idea about anything else. I’m certainly excited – as I am before any Coen Brothers film is released.
