The animation edition of our semi-regular Movie Club Podcast featuring the Film Junk Boys, The Cinecast Regulars, and this time joined by regular reader Anthony Macedo (Antho42). Anti-war fantasy Wizards and anti-war neo-realist tear-jerker Grave of the Fireflies are the films under the microscope, and there is a surprising amount of conflict on the near-universally praised Ghibli film (comparison to Oscar Bait Hollywood war epics for instance) while there is a lot of head scratching Wizards (the collage-style design and lack of fulfillment on the fantasy vs. technology premise) but a gravitation to some stark images in Ralph Bakshi’s hippie experiment. Enjoy the show!
The Movie Club is as much for the listeners as it is the contributors. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section over at the Movie Club Page. (Comments are turned off on this post.) Also, vote in the poll for Episode #21 while you are over there.
