Gareth Edwards’ Monsters has been touring the festival circuit for a while, Jandy reviewed it at LAFF, and is making its stop in Toronto next week. To celebrate, Magnolia, who is releasing the picture commercially, have put together a very handsome, Criterion-esque, poster. Thus proving that while gas masks are a constant cliche in genre films, you can still find new and interesting ways to photograph ‘em.

Yay! I’m tired of having to crop stills from the film to stand in as posters. The title scrawl and the tag-line are great, too. Magnolia/Magnet seems to know what they’re doing here.
who needs the movie when you got something this sweet!
Saw this film at one of the aforementioned film festivals.
Its terrible–I wanted to shout at the screen mystery science theatre style… but, its not even enjoyable as an ironically flawed b-movie. Tone deaf script, wooden dialogue, sycophantic and inept treatment of US/Mexican border issues, laughable errors (a photojournalist who almost never takes a photo and whose camera inexplicably disappears half way through the movie). I don’t understand what the hype is about.
