• DVD Giveaway: Brooklyn’s Finest

Alright kids, we got some schweet schwag to give away. With the recent release of Brooklyn’s Finest on DVD, the studio reps were gracious enough to hand over a free copy of the DVD for us to enjoy as we see fit. Probably best to give back to our readers who have given so much to us.

So here’s the deal. I ain’t too keen on just picking a name out of a virtual hat; that’s no fun and doesn’t foster much discussion either (which is what things in the third row are supposed to be all about!). So instead, looking over the ginormous and excellent cast for the film on IMDb, here is what I propose: choose one cast member from Brooklyn’s Finest and list your three favorite films by that actor in the comments section below. There are lots to choose amongst; from Don Cheadle to Ellen Barkin and from Will Patton to Lili Taylor and a whole bunch in between.

Put your list below and we’ll choose someone randomly from all entrants. Don’t try to choose what you think we’d like. That won’t improve your chances of winning – put your own choices and defend them if you need to!

RowThree contributors are not eligible, but I encourage you to drop a list in there anyway.

I have no interest in the DVD, but I will chime in because your suggestion is fun:

    Don Cheadle:

    Boogie Nights
    Out of Sight
    Devil in a Blue Dress

  2. djangoscud says:

Lili Taylor Rocks. Besides her great cameos in many John Cusack flics she has had some amazing starring roles in some very unique films.

    #3 Girl’s Town
    #2 The Addiction
    #1 Household Saints

    • Andrew James says:

Favorite Vincent D’Onofrio performances (not films):

      3) Adventures in Babysitting (Thor, mighty god of thunder. He’s a homo.)
      2) Men in Black
      1) The Cell

Congrats to djangoscud for winning the DVD! I’ll be contacting you shortly to get in touch with you on how to receive your prize. Thanks for all of the entries and I hope we can do something like this again in the near future!

Feel free to keep this conversation rolling with more top three lists!

  3. Kurt Halfyard says:

    My D’Onofrio three:

    Full Metal Jacket
    The Player
    The Salton Sea

  4. Roy says:

    DON CHEADLE:

    Boogie Nights
    Traffic
    Hamburger Hill

  5. Jandy Stone says:

Ethan Hawke’s a little easy to do with all Linklater films (in which he plays the same character):
    Before Sunrise
    Before Sunset
    Waking Life

If I only get to pick one Linklater film, my Hawke picks would be:
    Before Sunrise
    Gattaca
    and…maybe Training Day
or maybe Hamlet; I have a perverse interest in modernized Shakespeare

  6. rot says:

    that Hamlet is awful.

  7. Jandy Stone says:

:) I don’t remember anything about it other than I didn’t actually hate it when I watched it. And yeah. Modernized Shakespeare is academically interesting, regardless of the intrinsic quality of the work.

  8. Marina says:

    Hawke best:
    1. Before Sunrise
    2. Gattaca
    3. Reality Bites

And since I doubt there will be love for Richard Gere:
    1. Unfaithful
    2. The Hoax
    3. Days of Heaven

  9. Marina says:

Oh bugger – and I don’t think that version of Hamlet is awful. It’s definitely not the best but also far from the worst. I’m actually a pretty big fan.

  10. Aaron says:

    Ethan Hawke:

    Gattaca
    Before Sunset
Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

  11. Marina Antunes says:

Good call on BEFORE THE DEVIL Aaron. can’t believe I forgot that one!

  12. rot says:

    Hawke:

    Before Sunrise/Sunset
    Tape
    Alive

  13. Kurt Halfyard says:

That version of Hamlet hilariously and scarily sets one of the key soliloquies in a BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO. Madness!

  14. Cheryl W. says:

I am going with Hunky Richard Gere.

    1. Pretty Woman – Yeah, I love it, and not too proud to shout it.
    2. Chicago
    3. Hachi: A Dogs Tale. (get the tissues ready)

  15. Joe P. says:

Hmm for Ethan Hawke I would go with

    Gattaca
    Reality Bites
    Hamlet
