• Third Trailer for THE SOCIAL NETWORK works its Musical Mojo

A damn effective re-envisioning of Radiohead’s Creep gives this some fascinating resonance here. I find it interesting that the two teasers and the trailer have almost the exact same edit in the talking/plot bits, but have layered things in three radically different ways with music and visuals. I am hoping that this is a savvy way to underscore that information and truth are often way at odds with one another, perception is everything, and he who controls the pen controls the message. I can also see why there is no advertising or association between David Fincher’s Film and Mark Zuckerberg’s company. I am very much impressed that it was even possible to make venture capital and business shenanigans around Web 2.0 gobbledegook as epic as it looks here! Good Show.

Third Trailer is tucked under the seat.

Too fucking great. This in the fall and Inception tomorrow? A shitty year is about to become AWESOME.

Agree Matt. I liked the last trailer quite a bit with just the talking – and now I like the very end of this trailer… “which Part?”

To be honest, I think this has potential to be much more thought provoking and interesting than Inception.

  2. Ross Miller says:

    One word: AWESOME.

    (Actually that was three words)

  3. Anthon42 says:

I just do not find the Facebook’ story compelling, since it happens regularly in Silicon Valley… There is nothing shocking about the material.

  4. Kurt Halfyard says:

Well here, I think it is most definitely a case of “it’s not what it is about, but how it is about it” – I’m digging Fincher’s style on this one, if the trailer editing and music and overall gist are any indication of the final film.

  5. Henrik says:

Jesse Eisenberg is the man (they should let Aronofsky make Robocop with him in the lead) so I’m very excited for this. Justin Timberlake was great in Black Snake Moan so I’m excited to see him as well, I think he’ll be great.

that trailer is more evocative than most movies. Fincher and Nolan are two guys that have my complete and utter confidence.

  7. Jonathan B. says:

I kept saying “WTF” to the whole idea of this movie… but I’ll be damned if that wasn’t one amazing trailer. I also need to get my hands on an MP3 of that Radiohead cover. Like now.

  8. Darcy S McCallum says:

good music, good trailer, though I prefer the epci build in previous trailers with the Trent Reznor.

PS: anybody want to hear some Inception score, i’ve got in on CD (first CD i’ve bought since Young Modern by Silverchair in March 2008)

  9. Marina Antunes says:

I agree with the general sentiment; it’s not so much the story but the way it’s told in this case and Fincher does seem to be hitting all of the high points. As for whether it’s going to be better than INCEPTION… it’s going to have to be fucking amazing (which I don’t doubt it *can* be) but I’d be happy if it was en-par.

@Darcy – Zimmer’s INCEPTION score is spectacular. Easily one of the best I’ve heard this year.

So I just saw The Social Network.

    Fuck me is it awesome.
