The nominations for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air August 29 on NBC, were released this morning. The nomination that will be the most fun to keep our eye on is Conan O’Brien, who gets his sweet revenge by nabbing a nomination, despite NBC campaigning for Leno (it was TBS who ran the campaign to get Conan the nomination). As much as I love The Daily Show and Real Time With Bill Maher, those last few weeks of Conan’s stint on The Tonight Show was some of the best late night television I ever did see.
Other than that, the only really thing that matters (in this show, in this world, and in life) is Mad Men. And as great of a show as Breaking Bad is – and really, it is goddamn great – it doesn’t hold a candle to Mad Men.

Terry O’Quinn and Matthew Fox and Lost need to win. And I am just starting the latest season of Curb, seems solid. how is Terry O’Quinn supporting though, he is probably in the last season more than Matthew Fox?
I don’t think that there has ever been a bad season of Curb. Although I wish that this season would have pushed the boundaries a little more given the opportunities, it was still a great season and it was awesome to see the “Reunion Special” come to fruition.
It wasn’t nominated, but has anybody checked out Louis CK’s new show, Louie? I caught the first two episodes and it’s awesome. A great blend of intelligence and hilarity.
there were a couple bad Curb season I remember, but I think the last one with the Katrina refugees was probably my favorite… glad to see them carryover in this season.
Martin Short should get the win. Dexter definitely. Great acting last season.
I’ve just started watching the reunion season of Curb and I’m really enjoying it. I missed season six though so the breakup and refugees came out of the blue for me. I shouldn’t have skipped.
David Simon snubbed again? The Emmys are a joke.
Yeah Jonathan B. Loue is probably the best show on tv right now.
Yeah, David, thats about the only continuity aspect to Curb in all the seasons, and you missed it
Leon and Larry together are comedic gold in the last season.
I’m torn between “yay, they finally recognized the great Coach and Mrs. Coach acting in Friday Night Lights” and “how the hell did The Office and 30 Rock get nominated over Community and Parks & Recreation, which both greatly surpassed their older NBC sitcom siblings this year?”
Yup, Matthew Fox needs to win. As much as I love Michael C. Hall’s performance in Dexter, Fox has been overlooked for far too long for LOST. Also, I want LOST to win Best Drama since it unjustly hasn’t won since season 1. I love Dexter and True Blood but LOST gets my vote (who knew?
). Mad Men is damn good but it’s won the award the last two years in a row now – give something else a chance!
Also, it’s a no brainer either Terry O’Quinn or Michael Emerson (O’Quinn if I had to choose either or) deserve the best supporting actor win (I agree O’Quinn should be in the lead catagory but I still think Fox was more of a lead in season 6).
I was surprised to see Nestor Carbonell get overlooked in suppoorting catagory. He deserves at least a nomination for his turn in Richard’s centric episode.
And if Curb doesn’t win Best Comedy (I swear to god if 30 Rock wins again!….) and Larry David doesn’t win Best Actor in Comedy, the Emmys are a joke.
I lied. I just finished the third season of Breaking Bad. Holy. Shit. Holy… holy… shit. This is not only some of the best writing on television, but the acting is just… phenomenal. I changed my mind. I am rooting for Breaking Bad at this years Emmy’s.
Seriously.
