Damn, I should have been paying more attention, as I thought Iron Man 2 was still going to be in 3D. My $400 million Iron Man 2 guess for the Mamo contest was based on the fact that I thought they would be getting more money from 3D tickets.

Shows that my last minute entry into the content had more to do with putting it off to the last minute, rather than use that time to get a better idea what movies are going to be like. 🙂

I dont think Iron Man 2 is going to be getting much repeat business, so I'd bet on a lot of guesses for it being ballooned a bit.

Did anyone lurking (or writing) around here actually see Iron Man 2 this weekend? Curious as to some thoughts from people I know. I'm sure Gamble ended up seeing it so maybe we'll get a report on this week's Cinecast.

my 13 year old nephew is a Marvel geek of the highest degree and can never shut up about anything Marvel-related. I asked him how Iron Man 2 was and he said 'yeah, okay'. That floored me, the kid had nothing to say about this film.

I hated the first one so I was going nowhere near this one.

I'm from Oshawa (The 'Shwa is the correct nomenclature), and it could totally happen. I can even visualize the exact alleyway. And you haven't lost me as a listener. You certainly didn't convince me to watch Ironman 2 though. I'm not into the comic book references and whatnot, and this whole Avengers thing is rather exhausting and frankly not that interesting to me.

Inception, however, I am absolutely excited for. WOW!

If you hated the first one, this one might be right up your alley. 🙂

And Kurt, I am **painfully** aware that we are referring to the Avengers on a show-by-show basis now. I'm sure we'll cool off eventually.

I like this quote from FilmFreakCentrals Walter Chaw's (1-star) Ironman review, "multi-million-dollar machine carefully engineered to generate the ridiculous amount of money it's about to, Iron Man 2 is kept from total, instant obsolescence by its "too good for this shit" cast, which cleverly manages to distract from the fact that this flick is a tone-deaf, laborious mess."

I'd say that's a radical interpretation of the situation. It's pretty good. It's just not great.

you take too much glee that this movie is not nearly as well liked, its kind of unbecoming 😛

The problem is that the big problems with the first one have been increased (boring villain who is the same thing), the setpieces aren't so strong, the comedy isn't so funny, and the side stories never pay off to anything.

One thing for sure though, is that its not a ripoff of Robocop 😛

or Robocop 2.

or maybe the original Iron Man was just as bad and Kurt and I were ahead of the curve 🙂
