Our good friends at Cinema Revolution recently had an open call to local (and I suppose not local) filmmakers to come up with their own short film that showcases the different neighborhoods in the Minneapolis area.
The films will be a panorama of life in Minneapolis by each filmmaker exploring and creating a film within a different Minneapolis neighborhood. The mission is to exhibit a cross-section of life and cultures on film, and to collectively create a cinematic portrait of the city.
I honestly have no idea what to expect from these films and the trailer doesn’t give much of a clue. Is this to be a series of short fictional works (ala something like Paris, je t’aime) or will be just a series of nice looking, relatively static panoramic shots of the city (as the trailer seems to suggest)? Whatever the case, I’m sure we’ll get some very interesting diversified looks at our beautiful city.
Final projects are due by September 1st, so we should be getting a screening sometime later that month. If you’re local and care to check it out, it will be screening at the Riverview theater; keep you calendars open and continue checking back here at RowThree or drop by the official site of the project for more info. In the meantime, have a look at the trailer under the seats…
