This is, simply put, one of the greatest interviews I have seen.
In 1974, a year after William Friedkin directed The Exorcist, the American director did something else of note: he interviewed Fritz Lang. Fritz Lang Interviewed by William Friedkin isn’t exactly hidden, it’s included in Friedkin’s filmography but for one reason or another, I’d never noticed the listing. The interview, approximately 50 minutes long, was previously included as an extra in a French DVD edition of Lang’s House by the River but it has now found its way online and boy, it’s a thing of beauty to behold.
Lang talks about everything from Metropolis to Adolf Hitler in this fantastic interview the likes of which I’ve never seen. Definitely something to see for yourself.
Entire interview tucked under the seats, for now.
