Late last year I had the opportunity to check out local film maker, Rob Perez’ directorial debut, nobody (our review). Quite the solid film with its quirky art student crowd in mind, there are plenty of laughs to be had with what seems to be a seasoned cast (most notably Sam Rosen). If Jason Reitman were to put together a cast of young, talented new comers, nobody is likely what the outcome would resemble. It’s clear that Perez stuck with the old adage that one should not attempt to make their third movie on their first attempt; make your first movie on your first attempt. In that way, he’s kept it simple and down to earth; which in this case is a good thing, because it ended up looking fantastic. Of course I’m biased since because of our ridiculous tax structure, we don’t get to see too many films actually shot in Minnesota.
During its theatrical release, it was a little bit difficult to track down if you weren’t in the Minneapolis area. The good news is that the region 1, DVD release is now available from the nobody store. Along with the DVD, there’s a few other merch items to check out as well. Most eye-catching (no pun intended) to me was a pair of safety goggles for sale – an exact replica of the ones worn by Rosen in the one sheet (pictured above). Nice touch
.
Along with really handsome menu screens and like most DVD releases these days, there’s a bundle of extra features included here as well:
– feature commentary with Perez and Miller
– a closer look at the production with cast and crew
– deleted scenes
– 2 featurettes on producer Josh Hartnett‘s house (where the cast/crew crashed during filming
– blooper reel
– image gallery …and more

Nice. Looking forward to finally catching up with this.
