Win Inglourious Basterds on DVD!

Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without some bad ass Tarantino awesomeness to share with the family. What could be better than sitting around with mom and pop after a big turkey and ham dinner to take in a little Nazi scalping?

Row Three is here to fill that dream of yours. We’ve got a copy of the two disk special edition of Inglourious Basterds (our review) which Andrew drooled over a few weeks back, ready to ship out to one of our lovable readers and listeners.

You want in? Here’s how you put your name in the hat. Drop a comment below with your pick for the worst Christmas movie ever. It could be a movie, or a TV show (I’m looking at you Star Wars Holiday Special!), – we’re not picky. Everyone who suggests a film (or two) will get an entry into the draw for the DVD. All of the selections will be discussed on the After the Credits Christmas Special at which point we’ll also announce the winner of the contest.

Fine print: there is none. Contest is open to everyone (except contributors. Sorry kids). Entries taken until December 15th.

Get those selections in and good luck!

Haven't seen this movie but hope to win the DVD. Worst Christmas movie I have seen was Elf!

EEEP! I think you meant, "Inglourious!"

Any X-mas movie with Tim Allen. They all suck!!!

David

I'll have to agree with Renae, the Tim Allen Santa Clause movies are horrible and are too often on TV.

Agreed. Christmas with the Kranks… why God whyyyyyyy????

There are several bad Christmas movies, but the one that springs to mind most readily is "Jungle All the Way". Because you know this was just made up by a couple of guys in marketing who said, hey we need to show Arnie's paternal side, so let's but with a random black comedian to make it look like we care. who cares about the script, people will come because they have nothing else to do"

worst christmas movie ever in my estimation would be Fred Claus. Terrible.

Christmas with the Kranks!!!

Sadness… I have been eliminated from the draw {sniff}.

I think Jingle All the Way (1996) has got to be in the running.

Worst Christmas Movie: Bad Santa. Ugh… Billy Bob Thornton at his WORST and why oh why would Lauren Graham stoop that low??

Kurt Halfyard

Quick! Someone ban monnibo! Bad Santa is pretty awesome in a low-brow sort of way. What a swansong for John Ritter!

Andrew James

Ditto. Atuo-lose for Monnibo. The first time I saw Bad Santa it had me laughing harder than almost any movie of the past 15 years. Even if I felt a little bit bad for laughing.

I've tried 3 times and can't get past the first ten minutes of the Star Wars Holiday Special – easily the worst, and not even in a fun way!

Jandy Hardesty

I think Bad Santa was in the top twenty or so of that best-of-decade list that had Cache at the top (Guardian's, maybe? I forget). That surprised me a little. But I haven't seen Bad Santa, so I have no opinion.

Alex

Definitely the Star Wars Holiday Special

The Het

I would say "Santa Clause-The Movie". By the way, "Bad Santa" is hilarious.

Drew
Guest

I enjoy the original Santa Clause. 🙁

I would say Four Christmases, mostly because I enjoy holiday films and it's hard for me to think of bad ones. But that was bad.

Robert

Worst Christmas movie?

I may have to go with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Though I personally give it the SOBIG classification, it's just a terrible terrible movie.

Once Upon a Christmas and Twice Upon a Christmas are close seconds with an honourable mentions go to the Black Christmas remake.

I have no problems with Jingle all the Way or The Santa Claus. Goofy? Sure, but they aren't what I would consider bad. And as for Bad Santa. Shame!!! That film had me laughing quite a bit. Low brow, low budget for sure, but it has too many good moments to mention it here.

Real Answer: Shrek the Halls – dear god why.

Worst Hannukah movie: Eight Crazy Nights – three words: Splattering reindeer diarrhea

So Bad Its Good Answer: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Christmas Special

Piss You Off Answers: It's A Wonderful Life

The whole moral of this movie is ass backwards when everyone in the city turns into a helpless asshole without George Bailey around. They do this to show how important he is to the city, but really it just means that his rage, arrogance, drunk driving, abuse and stress of having to hold everything together is a hundred percent justified. Clarence should have just sent him another George. This dude is Ayn Rand's Atlas – if he shrugs the city falls to pieces! I hate this movie.

I'll also second Bad Santa. Assumes constant swearing equals funny, and assumes wrong.

And Goon, 8 Crazy Nights was indeed terrible: http://www.rowthree.com/2008/12/24/on-the-elevent

But I disagree about It's a Wonderful Life. I went in fully expecting to hate it (saw it for the first time last year) or at least be pretty ho-hum and bored with it. But ended up loving the hell out of it. I plan to watch it again this Christmas: http://www.rowthree.com/2008/12/25/on-the-twelfth

And you've not seen A Christmas Story? I'd LOVE to hear your feelings on that movie as a 30-something coming in fresh with no nostalgia or the same sense of humor you likely had when you were 12. Watch this movie in the next couple of weeks and report back. That is your homework.

assuming you actually have a copy in your possession already, can you answer me a question – is this a US or Canadian release copy? and if the latter, did they fuck things up with French/English packaging, or do that trick where theres french on one end of the slipcover and english on the other?

every time i've tried to watch a christmas story something has happened and I never finished it. maybe this year will be the year.

never saw IAWL until this year actually, but yeah seriously, George doesn't have friends. The lesson to me isn't about his importance as much as it is about the impotence of the rest of the town. ungrateful assholes all of em.

Jim Carrey' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" – Ugh!!

Goon

every shot of the Grinch is on a 45 degree angle with lighting from way too many angles

Joe Pierce

I'm almost always in the minority on this one, but I cannot stand "A Christmas Story."

I also haven't seen "Santa With Muscles" on the list. And since that movie did the unthinkable, it made "Jingle All the Way" seem good in comparison. Well I think it deserves all kinds of dislike credit.

neil

i really despised Ron Howard's Grinch as well. But as a Canadian, i nominated The Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special.

I remember getting together as friends to watch it, and ending up playing pool by myself as they finished it off.. i disliked it that much.

Has anyone here seen the 1989 horror film ELVES. The synopsis reads like an ideal choice for Gamble's podcast

"A young woman discovers that she is the focus of an evil nazi experiment involving selective breeding and summoned elves, an attempt to create a race of supermen. She and two of her friends are trapped in a department store with an elf, and only Dan Haggerty, as the renegade loose-cannon Santa Claus, can save them."

Marina Antunes

Goon – the DVD sleeve & cover are like the one above. Only difference is that in small white lettering (so small I missed it on first look) it has the film's title in French.

Package also includes some cool character postcards.

is the 'predict the oscar nominees' thing going to happen? pretty soon the GLobe noms will be in and will taint the whole thing.

I think you guys should pull me out of the contest though overall. I've won a couple contests already, I'm not greedy.

If we pull your name out of the hat, we'll through it out. Not sure if we've discussed anything in detail for Oscar noms. Stay tuned!

Adam Sandler's holiday Christmas cartoon. Actually saw at the cinema. Was pretty bad. It just tried so hard and was a pain to watch. I enjoy Xmas films. Some rank in my favs.

Adam Sandler's cry for more attention in his yelling is just a bad bad film.

I'd say Santa Clause 3… The first two were enough!

Worst Christmas movie ever should be A Christmas Carol (2009), Zemeckis and his motion capture need to go away now!

Much love for BAD SANTA!!!
