Just watched it on the weekend, I couldn't get through it in one sitting, I found it incredibly dull. The car chase finale is decent enough but everything else, including the feral child, drove me insane. and the bombastic music, like you mention, was waaaaaayyy too bombastic, out of sync with the images onscreen at times.
