This is just one example of why Ruben Bolling’s Tom the Dancing Bug is the funniest comic strip out there today. I LOL’d.

Where is the joke?
Thank you for such a meaningful comment, you humorless bastard.
Actually Henrik’s comment kind of reinforces the comic’s point, doesn’t it?
I just like taking cheap potshots at Henrik any chance I get. It’s good for my e-ego.
How is my comment meaningless?
If the comics point is that the situation isn’t funny, then it succeeded.
@ “Hasn’t eluding decades of eluding proper punishment been punishment enough”
Pretty much hits it on the head. I do understand why people are so willing to give him every benefit of every doubt (while casting the victim in the worst light possible). Like doting parents who can’t bring themselves to face the fact that Jr. hacked up all those prostitutes.
It is the definition of delussional behavior but I can appreciate that it comes from a place of empathy. Unfortunely people forget that empathy also means taking his crime seriously.
I don’t think it’s delusional. He did heinous things, but the victim is over it, the rest of the world can’t really care this much, the only people who care at this point are rule-mongers and the guys who were made to look stupid, in my opinion.
Personally, I don’t care if the victim isn’t the one pushing things forward. Why would I? Just free him, he’s not dangerous.
That being said, if you’re gonna joke about it, make a joke.
@ He did heinous things, but the victim is over it
I wish people who keep waving this flag would actually go and read the interview where she says she wants it dropped. In context it hardly vindicates him.
I new a girl whose sister was raped and she never reported it for pretty much the same reasons cited by Polanski’s victim. Polanski is a textbook of why rape so often goes unreported. And shamefully, like in the case of drugs, our society classifies the crime differently based on the class and status of the perpetrator.
Henrik, this is a matter where America deserves to be raked over the coals. And you’re giving us a free pass.
Nah, not to me it isn’t. I mean it is pretty much a shambles from beginning to end, and I guess that is the american justice system’s fault (and to a lesser degree Polanski’s
), but like I said, I don’t care.
If I say she is over it, with it being the need for prosecution, for whatever reasons she may cite, will you stop acting like I am absolving Polanski of crimes? People can be guilty and still not have a need for punishment, in the case of Polanski, I don’t think any further punishment is needed, and the only thing saying the otherwise is a rulebook.
@ I guess that is the american justice system’s fault, and to a lesser degree Polanski’s
The only “miscarriage of justice” was the one Polanski alleged was going to happen in the future. I’m tired of listening to people claim that Polanski got railroaded by some fraud of a judge as if it’s some established fact rather than the dubious thesis of some documentary produced by a fawning groupie.
@ If I say she is over it, with it being the need for prosecution, for whatever reasons she may cite, will you stop acting like I am absolving Polanski of crimes?
Well… maybe I’m missing something but it seems like you’re arguing that he should literally be absolved of his crime.
If that’s not the case then I guess I’ll stop acting like it’s true.
In terms of the law, yes, but I’m not being delusional and whatever else, arguing somehow that the illegal actions did not take place etc. etc. I understand that it’s confusing, but I really don’t care about legal procedure, so when I say absolve (I thought this word would emphasis this), I mean in a much grander sense than in the courtroom.
I think the american justice system made a mess of the whole thing when they let him escape Rusty, that was what I meant. I think Polanski made a mess of things by raping a girl.
mmmm Quaaludes.
