Bourne 4 Trailer

green_zone_stillWell not really; but it might as well be titled that. The new movie from Bourne director, Paul Greengrass, entitled Green Zone will hit theaters in March of next year. Rope of Silicon is talking 2011 Oscar love for this thing which truly baffles me.* I mean sure this might be the next great action picture (ala Dark Knight), but if what is essentially Jason Bourne in Iraq gets Oscar love while Greengrass’ United 93 got almost no mention at Award season (a complete traveshammockery) then I will officially sever myself from any tethers I have to the Academy (which, A] is zero and B] I always say but watch and discuss Oscar anyway).

At any rate take a look at the trailer (tucked below the seat). It does look fairly well shot and action oriented and likely entertaining as hell. Besides Damon, we’ve got Greg Kinnear, Brendan Gleeson and (the we need much more of this actress) Amy Ryan in co-starring roles.

What do you think? Am I off base in calling this yet another Bourne movie?

* UPDATE: Now that the Oscars nominate ten best pictures, I suppose damn near anything is eligible. Which doesn’t put a nomination for Green Zone completely out of the realm of possibility.

  1. I don’t think you are the only person with that assumption. Same director as the sequels, same star.

In fact this is a pretty creative way to get ‘Bourne’ back in government work and fightin’ the man, not unlike the previous entries in the series. I’m on board!

  2. I am a blog virgin looking for info on movies to watch out for. I haven’t paid much attention to movies in the past few years and I am looking for some input on cool movies to watch. I know this sounds kinda funny but I really just don’t know what to search for when I go out to get a movie or am searching my library’s catalog. Is there anyone that can help me out? I know there are preferences and other particulars to work out but I could really use some help to pick out a movie.

    thanks

  7. I’m all for helping you out, Forrest, but agreed, definitely need a little idea of what kind of movies you have enjoyed in the past, whether a particular movie itself or genre.

  11. That’s funny Ole, I was thinking the same thing. But I’m coming at GreenZone for the direction, not the writing.

/payback stinks watch Get Carter (the 70s version) instead…
