The film is a little long for the wear as well. Still, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit - especially the first hour or so. And you're right, watching the main's character arc evolve that deeply over the course of two hours is interesting. But I didn't quite believe the character towards the end. It took him too long to finally do what needed to be done. Some of the “outside” world got a little bit tedious and even a little bit confusing at times. The film is a little long for the wear as well.

Still, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit – especially the first hour or so. And you’re right, watching the main’s character arc evolve that deeply over the course of two hours is interesting.

I did like the character from the get-go and thought he was charismatic and I found myself hoping for the best for him even when he made bad decisions. I remember the film being almost too serious, sulking its way through the story. It is a nicely made film, I know there were comparisons to Scorsese in the TIFF buzz and I can see that, but perhaps that is part of my problem, I am not a big fan of Scorsese either. A lot of my problem with the movie is I never cared about the main character, I can appreciate the ambition of what the film is saying, but none of it really stuck with me. comedy?
