I seriously hope he was being funny, even in jest it's a ridiculous thought. He's fabulous at zoning in on dismal Americana. His characters, the situations and his life mission to illuminate/ "expose" these disturbing pockets of the nation and the creatures that feed on the scum, is a little too sick for me. Like a trip through the grinder. A lot of his images and storytelling reminds me a little of artist James Ensor. Strange dreary watercolors with sick or ironic dark, disturbing imagery.... people in masks, awkward stuff. However Ensor makes me laugh. Korine is something far from a laugh. I won’t lie, I want to see Mr. Lonely too!

But as much as I like what the director does, I couldn't bring myself to bother with Trash Humpers. The idea that one of our Yorkville waitresses (@ The Duke of York Pub) had a friend give her a free ticket and she went into Trash Humpers completely blind makes me smile for some reason. Oi. She didnt' make it past the 5 minute mark. I still want to see Mr. Lonely. Hard to say whether or not Korine was being sarcastic.
